What does MNS’ Darwin200 workshop do?
The objectives are for pupils to learn about Darwin’s achievements and why he is such a famous figure and to explain the basis of evolutionary theory through demonstrations and hands-on activities. The 30 mins session begins with “Darwin’s Adventures” that introduce the life of Darwin and some of his achievement to pupils. The class then have chance to study and observe “Worms Farm” and form some conclusions about adaptations that worms might possess. Some adaptations include flexible segmented body, no eyes and camouflage. The 2nd half of the session pupils will participate in hands-on activities and role-play game, “Butterfly Origami” andCamouflage Game” to learn about camouflage as an adaptation and to see natural selection in action.
