Holiday Science Activity Camps

The main objective is fun, educational exciting activities for the children. It’s like a super fun science class, better than that at school, it’s all about engaging and inspiring children, with a lifelong love of science and learning through hands on activities, exciting demonstrations and experiments, team games and fun quizzes. We start off by introducing the topic, we do fun demonstrations and experiments followed by hands on activities where the children will make something to take home with them. We also provide a parent handout which describes exactly what has been covered in each session – with further areas for ideas to explore at home!

Our camps are strictly open to children aged 5 years to 12 years old – at the time of camp (due to our Voluntary Ofsted registration)

9am-3:30pm and Extended Hours can be booked online by request 8.30am-4.00pm.

Every school Holidays – there are Six Holiday Camp Seasons 

1. February Half Term Holiday Camps – Early Bird Discount Expires 31 January
2. April Easter Holiday Camp – Early Bird Discount Expires 06 March
3.  May-June Half Term Holiday Camp  – Early Bird Discount Expires 6 May
4. July-August Summer Holiday Camps – Early Bird Discount Expires 12 June
   
5. October Half Term Camp  – Early Bird Discount Expires 09 October
6. December Christmas Holiday Camps  – Early Bird Discount Expires 27 November

The Camp is designed to be a week-long educational programme for maximum benefit to your child and is more cost-effective – we have a limited amount ‘individual days’ at a premium rate per day and no discount is applicable.

No – our camp is all about working together on science projects as a Team and individually! It is not like a school or a Tuition Club. We always run our camps with a tried-and-tested ‘Mixed Age Dynamic’ which works really well because it gives extra responsibility to the older children and helps stretch the younger children. Although our camps are open to kids aged 5-12 the majority of children tend to be ages 5-8 yrs.

We always operate on a 1-10 Presenter to Child ratio. There is always a minimum of 2 Presenter on site at all times. We have one main presenter and an assistant who is there especially to look after the younger children. During term time most of our presenters run after school science clubs so are well used to working with children of that age.

Small 20-25 children per class – Venue Classroom dependent.

All our specially trained MNS Presenters have experience teaching children in after-school clubs and camps. All have enhanced DBS checks, First Aid and extensive Child Safeguarding training.

Yes! – we try to be outside as much as possible and have 3* designated ‘Outdoor Activity Play breaks’ – esp. when the weather is beautiful.

Ensuring every Child’s safety and security is our top priority. All our staff have passed enhanced police check by the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) and all have to pass our Child Safeguarding Policy. We risk-assess every experiment and activity, and fully train the instructors who deliver the sessions. We also run a strict signing-in/out verbal collection password (VCP) policy so that only persons nominated by you are permitted to collect your child.

No, but we do provide access to fresh drinking water to keep them hydrated during the day. Children need to bring their own water bottle (important) packed lunch, mid-session snack. We have a no sharing food policy. We respectfully ask for nut products (such as peanut butter, Nutella and bags of nuts) not to be placed in pack lunches.

Campers should wear appropriate clothing for indoor and outdoor activities. All equipment will be provided.

Each week has a mix of fun, educational and hands on science lessons across Chemistry, Biology and Physics –Science Forces, Science Explorer, Science Factory and Science Academy etc, these are just names we give to our programme weeks – check the camp booking pages for the specific programme week descriptions.

No, but don’t worry, this is a common concern from parents but from our experience you have nothing to worry about. No child is left alone, and we encourage all children to be social with each other in small groups. We always have an assistant who is there to look after the younger children and most children come back to our camps year after year. Even if there are settling-in issues, we’ll be in touch with you on how they are getting on and how to ensure they enjoy themselves. You can book for a single day by request.

Yes – and this can even be combined with the Early Bird Discount – we give bigger discounts to parents who book well in advance and multiple weeks, children and siblings.

Yes – we are happy to accept overseas pupils as long as they have a basic understanding of English. We have lots that fly in specially for our summer camps each year.
