Every year the Mother Nature Science Activity Camp inspires thousands of budding scientists,  during all school Holidays and even the half-term breaks at premium Partner School Venues.

Before you attend

  • Designed as a week-long camp, for maximum benefit to your child*

  • 9.30am-3:00pm –extended hours available, pre-booking required

During the sessions

Every day at this 5-day camp is science expedition into the unknown and over the week your child will do 40+ science activities, exciting demonstrations, hands-on experiments, team games and fun quizzes. Every Day includes: 4 classroom-based fun, hands-on, science sessions and 3 ‘Activity Playground Breaks’ Disclaimer: Please note the order of the Activity Week Programme is subject to change. Should you wish to confirm the order of the Activity Week Programme at your camp venue; this will not be available until 2 weeks before the start of the camps.

Day 1> Mystery & Mini Monsters!

We start the week with a virus awareness challenge, what are they, what do they do and most importantly how can we beat them?! We see the colours hidden inside colouring pens by using chromatography and discover techniques used to fight crime including fingerprints and forensics! Getting To Know You – Camp Induction! – Through games and activities we make sure all little scientists are prepared for a fantastic week of science fun! Leaky Pens! – Investigate the science of chromatography and create an origami artwork! Who’ Dun’ it? Solve the crime using simple scientific forensic techniques! The Fun Zone! – We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning.

Day 2> Whole Wide World!

We launch into our solar system and get an understanding of just how big it really is! We study magnets and magnetic fields by building a compass and then challenge each other in a deep-sea fishing game. Pendulum of Fear- Things can’t swing forever, make a wave pendulum model! Super-Sized Space– Investigate the solar system and let’s make a glow-in-the-dark solar system mobile Show Me the Way- Discover magnetic fields and make a floating compass! Let’s Go Fishing- Discover magnetism with your own magnetic fishing rod.

Day 3> Wave Motion!

Explore the invisible world of wind, waves, and energy. We observe some fascinating Plasma Ball experiments, see the power of a swirling tornado storm, and construct a mini wave cannon. Plasma Ball! – Observe electrical conduction through fascinating experiments! Windsock! – What is wind is and how it is formed? Learn about the pressures of wind! Wave Motion! – Fire your wave cannon and make links to sound and light travel! The Fun Zone! – We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning

Day 4> Light and Lenses!

This day is packed full of reflecting, refracting, and changing the direction of light. As we construct periscopes, bug viewers, thaumatropes, and electrical circuits! Loopy Lenses! – Enter a micro-world and create a bug magnifier. Let’s Go to The Movies! – The world of animation: Thaumatropes, Zoetropes, Kinetropes, and more. Lighting it Up! – Learn about electricity and help bright sparks make circuits! Periscope Down! – Diffraction, Reflection and Light Rays- Make your own periscope!

Day 5> Elemental Magic!

We investigate some creepy crawly adaptations then learn about the invisible gases in our atmosphere and how they help plants grow, then we get mixing to turn two liquids into some super gooey slime. We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning. Butterflies and Mini Beasts – Camouflage your butterfly so it can hide from our hungry bird! How Does Your Garden Grow? – Look at greenhouse gases- Build your mini grass head with a greenhouse hat! Super Slime! – Discover the secret behind Newtonian and non-Newtonian fluids while having slimy fun! The Fun Zone! – We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning.

Science Factory!

Every day at this 5-day camp is science expedition into the unknown and over the week your child will do 40+ science activities, exciting demonstrations, hands-on experiments, team games and fun quizzes. Every Day includes: 4 indoor classroom-based premium, fun, hands-on, science sessions and 3 outdoor ‘Activity Playground Breaks’ Disclaimer: Please note the order of the Activity Week Programme is subject to change. Day 1> Crazy Constructions!

We start the camp off with a viral session designed to reinforce good hand hygiene during camps. We investigate balancing objects and then investigate a curious topology phenomenon. Getting To Know You – Camp Induction! – Through games and activities we make sure all little scientists are prepared for a fantastic week of science fun! Bridge Busters! – Strength in shape, can you design straw bridges strong enough? Balancing on a Pin Head! – Strength and center of gravity, make a balancing toy! Puzzle-tastic! – Train your brain and make your own clever puzzles! The Fun Zone! – We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning.

Day 2> Earth Energy!

With an environmental theme this day explores the science behind the renewable energy found in wind, water, and the sun. We build windmills, water wheels and mini solar powered ovens, then complete a bridge building challenge. Powerful Wind! – Create your own wind vane learn about renewable energy! Shadow Clocks! – What did we do before clocks and watches? Heat Trap! – Investigate the ozone and its gases-make mini a solar oven! Powerful Water! – How fast can you spin it? Make a water wheel to take home!

Day 3> Superpower Forces!

During this day, our mini scientists will discover the science behind the forces of flight, magnetism, and pneumatics! Exploring these topics, the children will build their own kites, spinning objects and pneumatic toys. Push Me, Pull You! – Pneumatics! Launch rockets and move objects using air! Cool Kite Design! – Overcome the forces of gravity and build your own stunt kite! Unidentified Spinning Object! – Use magnetic fields to create ‘Unidentified Spinning Objects! The Fun Zone! – We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning.

Day 4> Illusions & Vibrations!

Today we play with our perceptions as we encounter strange noises and curious visual illusions! We learn the science behind sound and make a musical tube tuba, discover how our ears hear and boggle our brains with some strange images. We end the day with everyone’s favourite – Slime! Tube Tubas! – Make your own tuba while picking up some (good) vibrations! Can You Hear Me! – The passage of sound & how can we hear through walls? Magic Money Box! – Delve into the science behind illusions, then make a ‘magic money box’! Let’s Talk Rubbish! – We transform something old into something new!

Day 5> Freaky Matter!

We learn about the intriguing properties of the 3 states of matter and make some candles. Children learn how lenses are used to help us see the stars, and we explore the four fantastic forces of flight! Create a Candle! – Study Solids, liquids & gases by making your own candles! Star Gazing! – Convex and concave lenses, build a mini telescope! Flying High! – The many forces in flight! Build your own mini-stunt glider! The Fun Zone! – We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning.

 Day 1> Let the Science Begin!

We start the camp off with a viral session designed to reinforce good hand hygiene during camps. Then this action-packed day investigates balance and strong muscles. Getting To Know You – Camp Induction! – Through games and activities we make sure all little scientists are prepared for a fantastic week of science fun! The Read Heads! – Meet some fantastic friction friends and learn about amazing woodpeckers! Knock Down Wrestler! – Discover relative stability between balancing and hanging objects. Make your own “unknockdownable” toy! Manic Muscles! – Discover relative stability between balancing and hanging objects. Make your own “unknockdownable” toy! The Fun Zone! – We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning.

Day 2> Floating Friction Fun!

We look at the properties of liquids and how boats float, then investigate some other surprising liquids as we make some slime. We discover how friction is used in our everyday lives and the surprising amount of science used in a game of football. Friction Sprinter! – Discover Newton’s 3rd Law of Motion as our scientists use friction and forces for experiments! Strong Boats! – Buoyancy – Create a boat and compete for the ‘Strongest Boat’! Super Slime! – Is it a solid or a liquid, or something else entirely? Fantastic Football! – Discover some of the history of football as our scientists will conduct a football game!

Day 3> Energy and Aerodynamics!

Archery is a sport which uses a surprising amount of science. We see how good our aim is, then try some balancing skills and launch some aerodynamic rockets and see rocket fuel in action! Awesome Archery! – It’s all about the angles – use science to hit the bullseye! Wild Wind! – Explore Thunderstorms and Tornadoes. Make a fantastic wind indicator. Rocket 3,2,1, Blast Off- The science behind rocket propulsion; make your aerodynamic arrow! The Fun Zone! – We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning.

Day 4> Superhero Science!

After a science show presented by our Superhero Professors, we explore momentum and jet propulsion, then hone our throwing and catching skills in a game of Handball. Superhero Show! – Use science to give you superhero powers and beat the bad guys! Run Marble Run! – Learn about momentum & construct a marble run of your own! Wacky Races! – Build a rocket car and investigate Newton’s laws of motion. Happy Handball! – Learn to play handball and the science behind it, before competing in friendly games with each other!

Day 5> Design, Inspire and Experiment!

We look at the science behind high and low temperatures and investigate different liquid densities and make a cool bubbling lava experiment. Then using the science knowledge we have gained during we camp we design and play a new sport or game! Feeling Hot, Hot, Hot! – The effect of temperature, take home a homemade thermometer! Lava Lamps! – Densities and fluids moving through a hand-made lava lamp! Sport Design! – Using all your scientific knowledge can you design a new sport or game? The Fun Zone! – We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning.

Day 1> Mama Nature!

We start the week with a virus awareness challenge, what are they, what do they do and most importantly how can we beat them?! We investigate animal adaptations, and start growing some magic beans to see the amazing germination process. Getting To Know You – Camp Induction! – Through games and activities we make sure all little scientists are prepared for a fantastic week of science fun! Catch Me If You Can! – Make animal puppets with some amazing adaptations! Seed Secrets! – A world of plants; discover what’s inside and help them grow! The Fun Zone! – We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning.

Day 2> Science of Sport!

We learn about momentum, inertia, and friction then make some cool modes of transport We investigate our strong bones and complete a skeleton jigsaw! Science of Sport! – We learn about different forces used in Sport! Balloon Hovercrafts! – Overcome friction, make your own hovercraft! Egg Cars! – Investigate inertia and try to save the egg from its fate! Skeleton Jigsaw! – Uses of bones in our bodies, take home a jigsaw skeleton!

Day 3> Blinding Light!

This electron energy-packed day looks at light and how it is reflected and refracted to give us beautiful patterns and rainbows. Sunscreen Science! – See the uses and dangers of UV light by making sun prints! Kaleidoscope! – Explore reflection & symmetry by making a kaleidoscope! A Rainbow in My Hands! – Create an indoor rainbow, find out real colours of sunlight! The Fun Zone! – We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning.

Day 4> Ready for Launch!

This day will have your kids on the edge of their seats. They will learn about the theories behind rocket power and how they work including propulsion, stability, and air resistance. They will also design and build their own water rocket to launch at the end of the day! Safe Landing! – Air resistance from the sky! Create home-made parachutes! Ready for Launch! – We discover the build-up of gases can cause pressure high enough to launch a water rocket! Rocket Launch! – After working hard all day to build our rockets we send them all zooming into the sky!

Day 5> Crazy Chemistry!

A day for all budding chemists as we mix potions, dissolve substances, and saturate solutions, and use a smelly cabbage solution to test some mystery liquids. Chain Reaction! – What is Chemistry? We try out some exciting chemical reactions! Creating Crystals! – Discover geodes; make sparkling salt crystals! Cool Chromatography! – Investigate the science of chromatography and discover some hidden colours! The Fun Zone! – We end the day with a re-cap session with quizzes and challenges designed to reinforce the day’s learning.
