Activity Week Programme
Four day camp, day order may differ per venue. Every day at camp is science expedition into the unknown and over the week your child will do 40+ science activities, exciting demonstrations, hands-on experiments, team games and fun quizzes.
Day 1 – Earthy Science!
The children immerse themselves into the world of Volcanos, Shadow clocks and Solar Science. Children get to make and take home their very own volcano! They get to have fun modelling clay and creating a chemical reaction. Children will be fascinated by the exciting demonstrations with magnesium ribbon. They will work as a team to learn facts about the sun in a fun way. They will discover how the sun’s rays can be used in experiments. They will make a solar fan to take home with them. They will discover the difference between opaque and transparent objects and make their own sundial to take home.
Day 2 – Fantastic Forces!
The scientists get to play with water and make a Friction Climbers, Funky Flutes and Bobbing Bugs. They will explore different sounds using their voice and musical instruments and will be able to make and take home a ‘musical flute’ and guitar! The children learn that friction can be a good thing and a bad thing but will also be able to take home the climbing toy and cones they make!
Day 3 – Astonishing Animals!
Today the scientist will work as a team to investigate how a sound wave moves through particles. They will discover the results of sound waves hitting a thin material and will make clucking cup through experiments children will discover lots of facts about butterflies and their life cycle. They get to make their own butterfly life cycle, their own caterpillar and their own camouflaged butterfly!
Day 4 – Cool Chemistry!
The children will discover how different sized material can help trap and purify water. They will make their own take home filtration device to filter muddy water. Children would be thrilled by the magical changes that happen to different items when their temperatures are altered. Children discover that solid, liquid and gas all have the property of ‘heated expansion’ and ‘cooled contraction’. They will work as a pair to investigate the unknown Mystery Powder white solids and discover different chemical reactions through their investigations.
